If we talk about \u201crenowned\u201d winds, the Levante<\/strong> is one of the first on any self-respecting list. This type of wind is well known by all the inhabitants of the Mediterranean coast, especially on the Valencian coast and the south coast of the Iberian Peninsula. The Levante or Levante wind<\/strong> is known as the wind that comes from the East and affects the coast of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Although it affects and is known in all areas of the western Mediterranean, it is in Spain where it appears with greater profusion and force and where it greatly affects days at the beach or when practicing maritime sports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In some of the areas, this Levante wind is accompanied by fog and precipitation, especially in the part of the Rock of Gibraltar, however, in other areas, the wind causes a dry climate, such as on the Andalusian Atlantic coast . Thus, in Gibraltar the clouds that form over the Rock are known as the beards of the Levante<\/strong>, while on the beaches of the Cadiz and Huelva coasts, the wind causes the sand to rise from the beach and the heat increases. Although this wind formed in the central Mediterranean area occurs throughout the year, its peak period is from May to October<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

How is the Levant formed?<\/h3>\n

The thermal low, known as B, of the northern summers, together with the high pressures of the anticyclone normally generated in the Azores, come into conflict over the central Mediterranean area and cause this climatic phenomenon. This generally occurs in summer times when the anticyclone is more present. Due to this, winds that run in the opposite direction to the clockwise direction are produced in the low pressure, that is, there is a wind from the east in the northern area over the westernmost Mediterranean. This, together with the orographic factor of the Spanish State, causes its strength and speed to increase at that point.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For this reason, a sports day with these characteristics is more exhausting than one in which the weather is lighter and the air is cleaner. In addition to human beings, the wind affects other living beings, and with Levante, it is likely that we will find more insects and that they are more eager to bother us. <\/p>\n

On dry land, we find that every time the easterly wind blows<\/strong>, due to its strength and speed, sand becomes a weapon against our skin<\/strong > and therefore it is impossible to stay in it. <\/p>\n

For those who are immersed in a sporting activity in the sea, this does not affect much, but if we are thinking of starting and need to practice certain positions on dry land, the Levante wind will make life impossible for us. <\/p>\n

The last two characteristics are humidity and temperature. The easterly wind, as it travels along the entire Andalusian coast, loses its humidity and increases the temperature, reaching C\u00e1diz, causing a dry climate and high temperatures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
