Kitesurfing Initiation Course Tarifa
If you have never kitesurfed before, we encourage you to do so. It is a fun, exciting and safe sport when you go hand in hand with good professionals. When choosing a kitesurfing school, you have to make sure that the school is official and the instructors are IKO and FAV certified.
It can be practiced both by children and adults. The minimum age we recommend for children is 6 years.
You don’t have to be strong or sporty. The most important thing is the technique and the desire you have to learn. We cannot tell you how much time you need to learn, because each student is a world. But the ideal minimum time for an initiation course is 3 days.
With us you will learn, that’s for sure, but you will also do it having a lot of fun.
What does the Tarifa Kitesurf Initiation Course consist of?
During the initiation course we will explain the theory of wind and material. Then you will use the kite on land and later in the water. And when you are ready we will add the table and navigate.
The basic notions of the wind, the assembly of the material, flying the kite, safety, navigation rules…
We are going to learn the famous Body Drag: it consists of dragging ourselves in the water with our body using the energy of the wind.
It is the movement we make with the kite and with our body to be able to get on top of the board and start sailing.
Kitesurfing courses include
Put on your bathing suit and sunglasses. We take care of the rest: kite, board, neoprene, vest, harness, helmet and the good vibes. All the necessary material for the courses is included in the price.

It must be approved by the Spanish Sailing Federation (Andalusian Sailing Federation), registered with social security, it must also have accident and civil liability insurance and be registered as an active tourism company.
The kitesurf schools in Tarifa are required to have a contract with the rescue company and a license from the Tarifa town hall.

The initiation course usually lasts 3 days, you will learn safety rules, how to fly the kite, first on the sand and then in the water. Finally, you will try to put the board on your feet and sail!
After the beginner’s course, you can continue with the intermediate course or simply take some classes on your own, or even with supervision, depending on the level you’ve reached.
